According to research conducted by all professionals who have an opinion on the drying up of Urmia Lake, over 70% of the drying up of the lake is caused by human activities and manipulations of the environment and the lake's catchment area, activities like building dams and, most notably, creating a bypass road in the middle of the lake by pouring soil and stones over a distance of more than ten kilometres and splitting it into two sections, unconventional and polluting industries, as well as industrial agriculture and the planting of water-intensive crops like apple trees and sugar beet.
I'm hoping that by learning more about this topic, we can resolve all of the aforementioned problems and improve the situation, particularly with regard to the kinds of crops that use up more than 80% of the water in Urmia Lake's catchment area.
